Your Invitation: Tour Israel with Me in 2016

There’s nothing like seeing the places you’ve read about all your life. For students of the Bible, a trip to the Holy Land is a lifetime adventure that adds depth and interest to every page of Scripture. That’s why Van Stewart and I have been leading tours to Israel for many years.

Our 2016 tour leaves New York on May 30. We arrive in Tel Aviv in time for a good night’s sleep, then drive to Caesarea Maritime, the city built by Herod the Great on the Mediterranean coast. The ruins of this city still stand, and they are fabulous. Here Philip preached and lived; here Herod Agrippa was stuck dead by an angel; here Paul was imprisoned; here the Gospel came to the Gentiles.

From Caesarea we’ll head inland into the Galilee, visiting our Lord’s hometown of Nazareth and ending up in a wonderful hotel overlooking the Sea of Galilee. There’s lots to see, including Capernaum, the Mount of Beatitudes, and the city of Magdala, a newly excavated site and the home of Mary Magdalene.

After our days in Galilee, we’ll travel down the Jordan Valley–the same route as biblical characters–and arrive in Jerusalem, where we’ll visit all the evocative sites, such as the Mount of Olives and the Garden Tomb. We’ll also feature a stop at Masada and a visit to the Dead Sea.

We’ll return home June 8 with a rich storehouse of memories, increased knowledge of the Bible, and pictures to share with our families and friends.

I’ll be teaching and lecturing along the way, and I’ll also be joined by my favorite Hebrew guide, Shlomo Ben-Ahser.

The base cost of the trip is less than most — $2,748, which includes airfare from New York, hotels, breakfast and supper each day, and all other tour-related expenses. There’s an additional and unavoidable airport/fuel/tax fee of $695, and we request $100 for all tips so that you don’t have to worry about tipping the guide, bus driver, servers, or hotel employees.

Discounts are available for early deposits.

If you have questions or would like a brochure, email our offices at The Donelson Fellowship at office@donelson.org, or contact me via my website. We also have a full brochure available here. Over the years, Van and I have hosted entire families on these trips, and many who go began planning to go again. I hope you’ll join us.
