Do You Have an Angel Story?

I’m studying the subject of angels for an upcoming sermon series and book. Today I was astounded in my devotions by the story of Jacob’s dream at Bethel in Genesis 28. The Bible says Jacob feel asleep with a stone for a pillow and dreamed of a “stairway resting on earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.” That’s a lovely scene, but I’d never considered it in the way it hit me today. In his vision, Jacob saw the hidden hole, the invisible passageway, between heaven and earth through which the angels are constantly coming and going in their service to God and assistance to us. Through this portal the angels were constantly traveling from earth to heaven and from heaven to earth. It was a glimpse into an invisible reality. Heavenly beings are constantly coming and going, on patrol, on assignments, on errands. The Bible says, “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”

…which brings me to my point.

If you have an “angel story,” I’d love to hear it. I’m collecting credible accounts for possible inclusion in my book and sermons, looking for people who think they might have had a brush with an angel. If you have such a story, will you please contact me via the contact button on this website or respond to this blog. Someone will get back with you.

The Bible says: “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels unawares” (Hebrews 13:2).
