Hope you can join us Sunday at The Donelson Fellowship for the first of two sermons on what’s happening to marriage today. This upcoming Sunday (March 6) I want to share the Bible’s perspective on the holiness and happiness of marriage; and on March 13, I’m planning to speak on the Ten Commandments of Marriage.
I’m grateful for the church I attend, and in my devotions this morning I read a statement by the inimitable A. W. Tozer that expresses my philosophy and reminds me of TDF. Tozer was dogmatic about doctrine, so no one ever accused him of watering down theology. But he also understood the difference between essential and nonessential points of belief. Here’s how he put it:
The true Christian church can be a conglomeration of everything under the sun. That is, we may have Calvinists and Arminians and Methodists and Baptists and all sorts of others, and yet we are all together on one thing–Jesus Christ is wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption! He is All in All, and the people of the Lord who have learned to hear the voice of the Shepherd gravitate toward that kind of church!
