Radnor Lake

Grandson Elijah and I finally resumed the process of hiking our way through the book 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles of Nashville. Today, October 22, 2016, was a gorgeous cloudless fall day, and we hiked the Ganier Ridge Loop, with elevations about as high as one can find in the Nashville region — accord to my iPhone, we were at about 1100 feet above sea level, and through the trees we could see the downtown buildings in the distance. Radnor lake was formed in 1919, when the Louisville & Nashville Railroad (the L & N) dammed up Otter Creek to form a resevoir for the steam engines of their trains. Today it is Nashville’s version of Walden Pond.  After hiking Ganier Ridge, we took the loop around the entire little lake, so we got our  miles in and enjoyed every one of them.
