Benjamin Rush

We all know of George Washington and John Hancock, but have you heard of Dr. Benjamin Rush? He’s surprisingly a less known character, despite being an outspoken Christian, signer of the declaration of independence, “The Father of American Medicine” or “The American Hippocrates”, founder of Dickenson College, Surgeon General of the Continental Army, writer of America’s first textbooks on psychiatry and chemistry, champion of America’s anti-slavery society, Philadelphia’s humane society, and the Philadelphia dispensary for the poor. In this episode, Rob tells his incredible story.
