Ephesus was the home of the goddess Artemis, giving rise to dark magic arts which flourished there. In Acts 19, we learn Paul taught daily for two years and did extraordinary miracles. As people converted to the Gospel of Christ, they burned their magic scrolls. The book of Ephesians can be understood much better with this backdrop.
