Do You Have an Angel Story?

I’m studying the subject of angels for an upcoming sermon series and book. Today I was astounded in my devotions by the story of Jacob’s dream at Bethel in Genesis 28. The Bible says Jacob feel asleep with a stone for a pillow and dreamed of a “stairway resting on earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.” That’s a lovely scene, but I’d never considered it in the way it hit me today. In his vision, Jacob saw the hidden hole, the invisible passageway, between heaven and earth through which the angels are constantly coming and going in their service to God and assistance to us. Through this portal the angels were constantly traveling from earth to heaven and from heaven to earth. It was a glimpse into an invisible reality. Heavenly beings are constantly coming and going, on patrol, on assignments, on errands. The Bible says, “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”

…which brings me to my point.

If you have an “angel story,” I’d love to hear it. I’m collecting credible accounts for possible inclusion in my book and sermons, looking for people who think they might have had a brush with an angel. If you have such a story, will you please contact me via the contact button on this website or respond to this blog. Someone will get back with you.

The Bible says: “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels unawares” (Hebrews 13:2).

  1. I have a story told to me by someone who came to visit us in Spain. If you’d like to hear it, please let me know and I’ll give you the details.

  2. The link to the sermon does not work any longer. I like the new website and it is probably still under construction, but I am interested in this topic, and would like to see the sermon. Someone told me a fascinating story about a man that just appeared, helped them get out of an impossible situation with an RV and then seemingly disappeared around a corner. I am trying to remember who told me the story — if I can, I will get you the details.

  3. I don’t know if this is what you are looking for or not, but when my aunt was in ICU, she saw three angels at the foot of her bed and was very upset that no one else could see them. This was an ongoing situation, not a one-time happening. When they put her in a regular hospital room she was semi-conscious and for several days she was struggling against something/someone invisible. She would jerk her arms, like something had her by the arm and she was struggling to get free. She finally stopped fighting and went home to be with the Lord. I remember that in the Bible it says the angels CARRIED Lazarus to the bosom of Abraham. My aunt’s experience gives me great comfort.
