I’m not going to read the much-talked-about book about hell; I don’t want to lend my financial support to the publisher. But I did read the cover story about it in Time Magazine. I came away with two conclusions.
First, I trust the authority of Scripture more than the vacillating opinions of politically-correct pastors.
Second, I wonder if I’m the only one disturbed by the creeping vulgarity entering Christian conversation? Though not as big an error as dismissing hell, it bothers when an “evangelical” pastor uses an obscene verb — especially when the offensive verb is connected to the noun Jesus. To me, the minor error confirms my conclusions about the larger one.
Any clapper can ring a bell, but the Scripture along sets the tone for both truth and godliness.
