We were just putting in a small above-the-ground swimming pool for the grandkids. Just needed to dig a little cleft in the hillside. Just needed a small excavator, which, when it arrived, looked like a friendly underfed earth-eating animal. But the beast proved powerful enough to hit the septic tank, which led to a much larger creature showing up with claws and legs and stilts and fangs, belching smoke from its belly and wrestling in the mud like a monster. Now we’re being invaded. More of these monstrosities are on the way to heave out the septic tank and free our land from its fumes. And to lay pipelines to the distant sewer so that everything will, well, go to waste.
My sons-in-law think they can tame these mechanical dinosaurs but I think Murphy is winning.
